Bachelor of Arts (BA) is a three-year course program offered by Tribhuvan University (TU) and its constitute colleges/ affiliated private colleges. The course was designed to enhance the students conceptual and theoretical understanding and methodological skills of respective subjects.
All the subjects/ courses offered in BA level is authorized and managed under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FOHSS), TU. Bachelor in Arts constitutes a wide range of courses in various subjects such as Major English, Nepali, Mathematics, Sociology, Economics, Journalism, Social work, Psychology, etc.
On completion of the BA course, students basically possess theoretical and practical skills and Knowledge of recognized standard with which they can pursue their career in a multitude of professions such as teaching, journalism, consultancy, social work activism, NGO, INGO and Government Organization services.
BA – The Bachelor degree in Humanities and Social Sciences (Arts) is also affiliated to TU and was started from the year 2008 A.D. at St. Lawrence College. Primarily college focuses in Social Work, Psychology, Mass Communication and Major English for the specialization courses under this stream though other courses like Economics and Mathematics are also available in this stream.
The BSW program is getting popular among the young generation who are committed to establish themselves in the Social Service Sector. This course is specially designed to produce the social worker who can support the social development of the nation.
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program of Tribhuvan University prepares students for entry-level practice in social work. Social Work is one of the helping professions committed to improving people’s lives. Social workers may assist people in dealing with their relationships, in solving personal and family problems, or in improving the environment in their community. Social workers focus on social problems and the individual difficulties that arise from these social problems. These problems may include domestic violence, child abuse, unemployment, poor or no housing, disability, and serious illness. Most social workers work in organizations or agencies whose missions focus on helping people deal with one of more of these social problems in their lives.
Students seeking admission in Social Work must have secured at least D+ in all subjects in Grade 11 and Grade 12.
