St. Lawrence College, one of the leading academic institution in Nepal, was established in the year 1997 AD with an aim to impart quality education demanded by the time. It is located in the heart of Kathmandu i.e. Chabahil.

The college offers different courses and degrees under three streams Science, Management and Humanities in higher secondary level and MBS, BScCSIT, BCA, BBS and BA under the affiliation of TU.


About MBS

Master of Business Studies (MBS) is a 2-year, 4 semester’s program introduced by Tribhuvan University, Faculty of Management. The objective of the MBS programme is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations , particularly in the functional areas of management.

The course is highly acceptable and demanding in the business and industries, government and non government sectors, within and outside the country in the areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management.

MBS is 60 credit hours program which enables students to develop their knowledge and management skill on the basis of a good understanding of the economic, social, political milieu both at the national and global levels.


MBS  at St. Lawrence

St. Lawrence College has been established as a center of excellence imparting education in the field of Management, through the initiation and support of eminent personalities, intellectuals and managers who have rich, varied and profound expertise in the field of Management.


Teaching Methodology

The MBS program is based on the student-centered learning approach. The general teaching methodology of the program includes interactive lectures, students’ presentations, case studies and projects.

Each course follows a pre-determined lesson plan prepared by its respective faculty members. Students are made aware of the relevancy of the course and its practical implications. Our department uses e-learning methodology where the faculty members share their assignments, Notes, E-books, handbooks, slides, useful software and other materials to the students. The teachers encourages the students to submit their assignment through the mail system. Students are encouraged to interact during and after class hours. They are also encouraged to indulge in individual and group researches.


Eligibility for Admission:

The candidate applying for MBS program must have:

1.       Successfully completed the BBS program or a bachelor degree on any discipline from Tribhuvan University or from any other university recognized by Tribhuvan University.

2.       Applicants are required to appear in the CMAT entrance test conducted by Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University (FOM-TU) and should secure at least 40% marks in order to be eligible.

3.       Compiled with all the application procedures.


Curriculum Structure:

The MBS  program will have four semesters with 60 credit hours. Each semester shall have duration of 6 months. All the subjects carries 3 credits each. This program comprises of the following major three key components :

 1. Core Courses

2. Specialization Courses

3. Dissertation





The grading system followed in the MBS program will be based on the absolute performance of a student in the in-semester evaluations and semester-end examinations. The performance of a student in the MBS program shall be made on a four point scale ranging from 0 to 4. The passing grade in the semester-end examination for an individual paper shall be grade “B minus” or GPA of 2.7 (50 percent).

In order to pass the semester examination the student must secure a minimum of Grade “B” or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (60 percent). The overall grade of a student will be determined by the student’s performance in the in-semester and semester-end examinations. Merit Based Scholarship:

We offer up to 100% scholarship on tuition fee to deserving candidates on merit base. This scholarship is based on T.U CMAT Entrance Mark and Interview.

Semester Topper's Scholarship:

The college offers a special scholarship to a semester topper student, which covers 50% , 30% and 20% of semester fee for the first , second and third position holder respectively. We believe that such scholarship will be highly beneficial and motivating for the deserving candidate.

Field Visit

Regular field visits are arranged by the college whenever needed. These filed visits are aimed at making students acquainted with the real time scenarios of what they have learned in class room and text books. Subject teachers would take students to the relevant fields for demonstrating the real implementation of the subject matters.
